2018 ANNUAL AGENCY PLAN

AMENDED ADMISSIONS AND CONTINUED OCCUPANCY POLICY

BERWICK HOUSING AUTHORITY

The Berwick Housing Authority will conduct a Public Hearing at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the Community Room in the Office of the Housing Authority, 2751 Fifth Street, P.O. Box 231, Berwick, LA, 70342.  The purpose of the hearing is to obtain citizen input on the following subjects:

*The Housing Authority's Annual Agency Plan for 2018

*Amendment of the Admissions and Continued Occupancy Policy:

The 2018 Annual Agency Plan and Amended Admissions and Occupancy Policy are available for review at the Housing Authority Office at 2751 Fifth St., Berwick, LA 70342.

Those citizens unable to attend this hearing may submit their views in writing to:

Accommodations will be made for disabled and non-English Speaking individuals needing assistance, provided that the Housing Authority receives a three-day notice by calling the office at 985-385-1546.

February 23, 2017-Smoke-Free Housing Meeting for residents

February 23, 2017-April 10, 2017-45 day comment period

April 18, 2017-Smoke-Free Policy & Addendum presented to the Board of Commissioners for approval

June 16, 2017-60 day notice sent to all residents

July 1, 2017-Effective Date for all new leases

August 1, 2017-New leases effective for existing residentswith effective recertification date of Aug. 1, 2017 & later

July 30, 2018-Deadline for full compliance

ATTENTION RESIDENTS--IMPORTANT INFORMATION

With HURRICANE SEASON upon us, we would like to take this time to urge residents to prepare themselves and to take proper action. Make emergency plans, assemble disaster supplies, and listen for local radio and television weather forecasts.

Now is the time to make plans with your family. If we are ordered to evacuate, please LEAVE IMMEDIATELY to avoid being trapped by severe weather and/or heavy traffic. Follow evacuation routes announced by authorities. Tell others where you are going and make sure everyone knows where to meet and who to call in case you are separated.

If you are not required to evacuate, stay indoors during the Hurricane and away from windows. Listen to the radio and television for information and avoid using telephones except for serious emergencies.

Consider how you can help your neighbors who may need special assistance in times of emergency.
Keep important telephone numbers handy.

Attached is some reading material that will help you plan for an emergency. We want you and
your family to be safe. Call the office if there is anything we can do to help.

Please call the office as soon as you can to let us know you are alright after the storm.
