Notice of Public Hearing

Amendment to the agency current Lease and Admission and Continued Occupancy Policy

For Over Income Residents who dwell in Public Housing

The Berwick Housing Authority (BHA) will conduct a public hearing on amending its Lease and Admission and Continued Occupancy Policy as it relates to over income family who dwell in public housing. The meeting will take place Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Berwick Housing Authority Resident center located at 2751 Fifth Street, Berwick, LA. 70342.

This final rule gives public housing agencies (PHAs) the discretion, in accordance with federal law and regulations, to establish occupancy policies that include the eviction of public housing tenants who are over the income limit for eligibility to participate in public housing programs. PHAs may decide that such families should be able to find other housing and that public housing units should be made available for eligible low-income families with greater housing need as per 24 CFR 960 and 966. Copies of the noted regulations are available for review at the BHA office from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday-Friday. Our office is closed from 12 pm to 1 pm for lunch.

Please inform the BHA if you plan to attend the hearing and need special accommodations. The public is invited to comment. Our office number is (985) 385-1546 or we can be reached via email at berwickhousingauthority.com.

(The noted ad will run in the local newspaper on December 4th, 7th and 14th 2015)

A home buyers class was provided to the residents by Patterson State Bank on May 7, 2014.  Pamela Manuel and Sandra Turner were on site to discuss financial topics such as loans, credit score, rebuilding your credit, budgeting, checking and savings.
