Maintenance Repairman I Qualifications

Background Information

The Maintenance Repairman I position requires a maintenance man who is ready and willing to do the best job he or she can in assisting the residents, maintaining the general work area, and conductive preventive maintenance on and in the housing authority units and development. The agency is comprised of 128 housing units.

This not a hard job, but a job that requires you to have a daily job task in order from Monday thru Friday. The job does require an individual to be on call every other weekend.  Payment for call-outs will be paid time and ½ when called out.  The worker must clock in to receive payment for the callout unless the call is an emergency which will require the employee to go directly to the unit. The Berwick Housing Authority will supply a cellular phone to the individual on call and a maintenance truck will be allowed to be taken home during the week of being on call, making sure that all mileage is kept  on a daily bases on the truck with the mileage sheets being turned in at the end of the week.

Civil Service 24 month review of work performance will be completed

Starting pay will be based upon La. State Civil Service and documented certifications from and Accredited Agency.

  • Interested individuals must take a physical examination and pass a drug screening to quality for the position if hired.
  • A police screening will also be performed on all individuals who apply for this position
  • Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and Social Security Card.
