2020 MODERNIZATION PROGRAM

AT THE BERWICK HOUSING AUTHORITY

Sealed bids for construction of the “2020 MODERNIZATION PROGRAM” at the Berwick Housing Authority, Berwick, LA., will be received until 2:30 PM, local time, on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at the Housing Authority Office at 2751 Fifth St, Berwick, LA at which time and place all bids will be publicly read aloud.  This project is funded under the Capital Fund Program of the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development. 

The general scope of work for this project includes exterior and interior modernization of one dwelling, installation of cooling systems on existing gas furnaces in 10 apartments, plus parking and site improvements, and associated work.  Work includes, but not restricted to, sitework, replacement of exterior doors and hardware, repair of windows and damaged misc exterior materials, repair/replacement of sheetrock, kitchen cabinets, floors, millwork, interior painting, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical. 

Copies of the plans and specifications and related contract documents are on file at the office of the Housing Authority Office at 2751 Fifth St, Berwick, LA, and the office of Firmin + Laiche Architects, Ltd, 530 Third Street, P.O. Box 972, Morgan City, Louisiana, (985/384-3094) and are open for inspection at each of these offices without charge.  Contractors may obtain plans and specifications from the Architect by making a deposit of $100 which will be fully refundable upon return of the plans. 

Contractors are required to visit the site prior to submitting their bids, and should make appointments to do so by calling the Housing Authority Office at 985/385-1546.

Attention is called to the insurance requirements and to the provisions for equal employment opportunity, and payment of not less than the minimum wages that must be paid on this project, as set forth in the Specifications.

EMPLOYMENT OF FEMALE AND/OR MINORITY INDIVIDUALS AND SUB-CONTRACTORS:

The attention of the Contractor(s) proposing to submit a bid on this project is expressly called to the interest and desire of the Housing Authority, that female and minority individuals, particularly those residing in or near the housing developments of the Authority, be given preference for positions of new employment.

Each proposal must be accompanied by a bid bond or certified check equal to at least five percent (5%) of the amount bid, and made payable without condition to the Owner as a guarantee that the bidder, if awarded the contract, will promptly enter into a contract for the project.  The bid security of all bidders, except three lowest, will be returned promptly after the canvas of bids.  The successful bidder will be required to furnish a performance and payment guarantee as indicated in the specifications.  No proposals shall be withdrawn for a period of 45 days subsequent to the opening of bids without the consent of the Housing Authority of the City of Berwick, Louisiana. 

Any contractor and/or sub-contractor whose bid exceeds $50,000.00 shall be licensed in accordance with current statutes of Louisiana Law.  The Housing Authority reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive informalities in the bidding.

Sealed bids for the furnishing and installation of “PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT” at the Morgan City Housing Authority, Morgan City, LA., will be received until 2:30 PM, local time, on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at the Community Room of the Housing Authority Martin Luther King Center, 338 Wren St, Brownell Homes, Morgan City LA, 70380, at which time and place all bids will be publicly read aloud. This project is funded under the Capital Fund Program of the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development.

The general scope of work for this project includes the furnishing and installation of playground equipment, ground cover material with borders, bench, and associated work.

Copies of the Bid Packet and related contract documents are on file at the office of the Housing Authority Office at the Martin Luther King Center, 338 Wren St, Brownell Homes, Morgan City LA, 70380, and the office of Firmin + Laiche Architects, Ltd, 530 Third Street, P.O.
